Crock Pot Chicken
Back home, whenever I return home from college, my mom always makes this amazing dinner that my family has named simply, Crock Pot Chicken. It is what it sounds really, just some chicken breast in a crock pot but it is easily my favorite meal from home and whenever I go home my mom makes sure to spoil me by making it. She is careful to cook just enough for our family of four because it doesn't reheat well but whenever we have it the entire family loves it as much as I do. Its nice to have the whole family together again because my brother is in med school and I myself am in my freshman year of college which leaves my parents as empty nesters. Because of this it always feels great to go home and see my family which i haven't seen in a couple of months and it is a wonderful meal to enjoy while sharing all of our stories about what we have learned recently. Overall it feels amazing to see my family that i have missed so much while away at college and to enjoy my favorite meal instead of eating ramen on the way to library.
The ingredients to make this meal are not very complicated. It includes 1 can of cream mushroom soup, half a cup of white wine cooking sherry, and 1 packet of Good Seasons Italian Salad Dressing. Followed by 2 tablespoons of melted butter, 1 eight ounce brick of cream cheese cubes, and finally 4-5 skinless boneless chicken breasts. Then it is cooked for 6-8 hours in a crock pot.
The chicken is simply amazing, for starters there is the smell and since it cooks for all day the scent of it can be picked up throughout the house and it smells amazing. Its hard to wait the 6-8 hours for it to cook because it smells that good. When you take the lid off the crock pot the chicken admittedly doesn't look amazingly appetizing but once it is on the plate mixed with some noodles it screams eat me. It is covered in this amazing sauce that looks a bit like Alfredo sauce for spaghetti but it has bits of mushroom and all the herbs and things that are mixed in with the Good Seasons Italian Salad Dressing. The sauce soaks into the noodles and the chicken is incredibly tender so when you go to cut into it, the chicken simply breaks up into the noodles and then from there you proceed to eat it and enjoy how amazing it is. It is one of those meals that just melts in your mouth.
Crock Pot Chicken is easily my favorite food to eat whenever i am home from college and i love to enjoy it with my family which i do not get to see nearly as much as i used to so it is also a special time whenever i get the chance to have it, and of course it is quite simply a thousand times better than college food.
